Harvestia and Green Fuel Nordic signed a co-operation agreement for raw material supply to Iisalmi biorefinery

11.10.2013

Wood supply company Harvestia Oy and biorefining company Green Fuel Nordic Oy have agreed on the supply of raw material to Iisalmi biorefinery. According to the Agreement Harvestia supplies all forest-based raw material to biorefinery that is being built in Iisalmi. The Agreement is also good news for the Savo-Karelian forest owners.

The RTPTM biorefinery, that is being built in Soinlahti, Iisalmi, needs 350 000 solid cubic meters raw material annually.

Harvestia Oy’s CEO Pekka Kauranen and Green Fuel Nordic’s CEO Timo Saarelainen are very pleased with this supply agreement.

”Energy wood is an important part of our business, and a biorefinery using the raw material evenly throughout the year is a good and balancing addition to our customer base. A biorefinery located in our supply region is a very good new end-user for the North Savo forest-based raw material. It will also support the success of other regional forest industries”, says Kauranen.

Good news for forest owners
Also, according to Kauranen, the signed Agreement is good news for the Savo-Karelia forest owners.

”We are now able to serve the forest owners better and buy all timber grades because we have known end-users for all of them”, says Kauranen.

Wood procurement efficiency, securing synergy benefits related to deliveries and a flat organization are the cornerstones of Harvestia’s business.

”For us, the availability of the optimal raw material is a very important success factor. This Agreement helps ensuring the efficiency of our process”, says Saarelainen.
