Green Fuel Nordic Oy to build its first biorefinery to Soinlahti, Iisalmi

30.11.2012

North Savo Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment has approved the Green Fuel Nordic’s environmental impact assessment report. The studied refinery locations were Iisalmi Soinlahti and Savonlinna Pääskylahti. According to the evaluation both locations are suitable for biorefinery operations.

”On the basis of the overall assessment provided by EIA process we have ended up with a solution, where biorefinery project in Iisalmi will begin first and the project in Savonlinna shortly after Iisalmi”, says Green Fuel Nordic Oy’s CEO Timo Saarelainen.

Green Fuel Nordic is planning the construction of three biorefineries on the first stage.

”We already make sure on the planning phase in Iisalmi that we have a possibility to fit another similar biorefinery unit right next to the first one in the future.”

According to the final statement given by North Savo Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment the Green Fuel Nordic’s EIA report meets the set requirements and is professionally and plainly made. The statement can be found from www.ely-keskus.fi/pohjois-savo/yva.

”We will now proceed to the next step in planning of the biorefinery project, thanks to an excellent basis created by the EIA process”, says Saarelainen.
