Green Fuel Nordic on the carpet in ”Finland, a future bio-oil superpower?” –seminar, October 15, 2012.

The cleantech, strategic program of the Finnish Ministry of Employment and the Economy,  organises a seminar ”Finland, a future bio-oil superpower?” on Monday, October 15, 2012.

Green Fuel Nordic’s CEO Timo Saarelainen is one of the seminar speakers. There will be presentations from the National Emergency Supply Center, Shipowners’ Association and a leading burner supplier. Also the district heat and electricity producer will give its view on the potential of bio-oil, and a private equity investor will review the cleantech investments. Additionally there will be a presentation on current and future applications of bio-oil by a technology supplier.

The Strategic Programme for Cleantech is aimed at spurring Finnish companies towards sustainable growth and renewal through clean technologies. Its goal is to prompt the creation of 40,000 jobs within the cleantech sector in Finland by 2020, and to double the total turnover of cleantech businesses from approximately 20 billion euros to 40 billion by 2018.

The seminar invitation states, among other things, the following:

The production of bio-oils is a great business opportunity for Finland. Clean energy goals will require building of several production units, which employ people during investment and operational phases in industry, logistics and forestry. The development on bio-oil related technologies in international co-operation enable the opening of new global business opportunities. The bio-oil helps Finland to repair the current account balance, increase the amount of jobs and reduce CO2 emissions.

”We are pleased to participate in this seminar, because we believe that Green Fuel Nordic has a major role to play in turning the bio-oil related business opportunity into reality. The energy self-sufficiency, distributed energy production, creation of jobs, and providing a new processing path for the valuable forest resources are also strong drivers for us.” says CEO Timo Saarelainen.

Green Fuel Nordic Oy is a Finnish biorefining company. The company’s business idea is to utilize commercially proven RTP™ technology for the production of second-generation bio-oil from local, renewable, forest-based biomass. The off-take is a liquid, low-carbon and sulfur-free bio-oil that can directly replace light and heavy fuel oil in renewable energy applications. In the upcoming years, Green Fuel Nordic Oy aims to build several biorefineries in Finland. The company, established in October 2011, is headquartered in Kuopio, Finland.
