South East Savo Center for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment (ELY Center) has awarded EUR 7,000,000 in grant to Green Fuel Nordic Oy's Lieksa biorefinery investment

According to the application received by Green Fuel Nordic Oy's subsidiary GFN Lieksa Oy, a grant of EUR 7,000,000 will allow the biorefinery project in the Lieksa Kevätniemi industrial area to proceed as planned.

Green Fuel Nordic's biorefinery investment supports the strategic goals of Finland and the North Karelia region to move from the fossil economy to the future bio-economy.

"The grant granted by the ELY Center is an important part of the overall solution of the Lieksa biorefineries and enables the project to proceed to the next steps as planned," says Timo Saarelainen, CEO of Green Fuel Nordic Oy.

"The question is GFN Lieksa Oy's long-term competitiveness improvement project. The project will create a new industrial bio business. The grant awarded has a significant impact on the implementation of the project, "says Kalevi Pölönen, Head of the ELY Center Unit.
