Two Nordic biorefining companies enter into a strategic collaboration

The Finnish biorefining company Green Fuel Nordic (GFN) and the Danish CWC Biofuels ApS (CWCB) have decided to enter into a strategic collaboration concerning the development and operation of advanced, second-generation biofuel productions plants in Denmark and Finland.

Both companies have been developing advanced biofuel plants in their respective countries based on the same key technology platform.

The areas of collaboration are found within joint construction, project finance requirements and potential solutions for joint marketing, branding and strategic integration.

GFN to deliver services for CWCB plants in Denmark

GFN will support CWCB to execute needed tasks for pre-construction phase of the first biorefinery plant in Denmark. The plan is to utilize all the work what has been done concerning the roadmap for GFN biorefinery layout in Finland.  GFN has developed a standard biorefinery lay-out for forest-based feedstock. During the pre-construction phase of CWCB Denmark plant the same type of standard lay-out will be developed for straw based feedstock.

”Green Fuel Nordic has developed a robust biorefinery template with key technology vendors for forest-based feedstock. This strategic collaboration agreement will speed up CWC Biofuels’ straw-based projects in Denmark significantly and improve our security of supply of green fuel oil for our future end-customers”, says CEO Dan Riise from CWC Biofuels ApS.

“The collaboration agreement supports Green Fuel Nordic’s strategy to expand our business activities outside Finland. It is very important for the bio-oil business in bigger picture to have many suppliers in the market segment”, says CEO Timo Saarelainen from Green Fuel Nordic.

Pre-construction phase is planned to be finalized during the 3rd quarter of 2015.
