Environmental and water resources permit application for Iisalmi biorefinery advances

Green Fuel Nordic Oy is applying for an environmental and water resources permit for two biorefinery units in Soinlahti, Iisalmi. The permit application is available at the Iisalmi city office during the public notice period of 26.3.–25.4.2013.

Even though the permit application is for two units, the plan for the initial phase is to construct one refining unit in Soinlahti.

”I am pleased that the environmental and water resources permit application has been submitted within the planned schedule,” notes Green Fuel Nordic Oy’s HSEQ coordinator Noora Haatanen.

The more detailed planning of the biorefinery will advance in parallel with the permit process. The production process, and particularly the emissions control systems, and thus also the environmental impacts have been further specified since the EIA phase.

”For us, sustainability is an important operational starting point; consequently, the already low process emissions will be controlled and utilized as efficiently as possible,” says Haatanen.
